Completion: January 2018
TGA provided core quantity surveying services for this extremely exciting project due to being one of the very few Passivhaus School buildings in the UK, we are aware this will be popular in the future but it was extremely valuable for our practice to understand this recently new building type before our competition.
The 3 storey Junior School comprised of Nursery age classrooms on the ground floor with the remainder of the primary school ages being located at the higher levels of the building. As you would imagine Cross Laminated Timber was the main structural element for the building which result in a water tight building very early on in the construction process. A link to the original junior school was formed at all levels and consequently localised refurbishment took place within the original building.
TGA working closely with the same team as the ADT&6th Form School (VHH, Price & Myers and Ingelton Wood) to ensure the project achieved the original budget. Gross Internal Floor Area – Approx. 1,750m2.
